I’ve been underestimated most of my life.

And somewhere along the way, I think I underestimated myself too.

Backstory: After a great competition season last summer, winning my Bikini Pro Card and two consecutive shows, I fully expected to then finish up the book I’d been writing, Age Out Loud.

Well, that was the plan anyway.

Apparently, God had other ideas.

I’ll be honest: writing about grief was the LAST thing I wanted to do, I am not going to lie. But opting out was apparently not an option.

Writing Grief and Grace absolutely sucked.

It pulled me hard into grief and loss at a level I hadn’t dealt with before.
No hiding. No shortcuts. Just dealing with it, putting words to the pain and the heartbreak.

Fast forward a little over six months later, and here I am- two books finished and heading off for final edits.

Absolutely nuts, even to me, but a real story of grit and an unwillingness to yield to surrender.

And somewhere in all of this mess, the drafts, the searching for the right words, I realized that I had stopped waiting to be understood.
Stopped adjusting to expectations.
Stopped unnecessarily explaining myself.

What I feel most of all today?
Freaking Free. Unadulterated. Undeterred. Peacefully free.
