Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change of Malaysia, addresses the United Nations Water Conference 2023 in New York.

Malaysia’s Country Statement highlighted that the world needs a framework for resilience that starts with water; where climate, environment and development merge. As Nik Nazmi pointed out, the climate crisis is a water crisis.

Malaysia also called for the establishment of a dedicated UN Agency for Water. Moreover, there must be continued mechanisms for developed countries to provide technical assistance and capacity development towards the achievement of the SDG6.
