Sant'Angelo in Colle, a charming village nestled in the beautiful Val d'Orcia, belongs to the Italian municipality of Montalcino, within the charming province of Siena.

Situated on the southern slope of the hill of Montalcino, amid the lush vineyards of the renowned brunello, this village is a jewel set in a picture characterized by farms, castles, stately villas, cypress avenues and endless rows of vines. Sant'Angelo in Colle opens up to panoramic scenery that embraces Mount Amiata, the Orcia valley and the Ombrone river valley

Although there is no certain information about its foundation, some sources suggest that the village may date as far back as 715. In that year, during a dispute between the bishop of Arezzo, Puperziano, and the bishop of Siena, Adeodato, a testimony mentions that the Diocese of Arezzo extends as far as “Sancto Angelo Abollensis,” a clear allusion to the ancient name of the village.

However, the first sure mention dates back to December 5, 1208, in a document of the hospital of Santa Maria della Scala in Siena.
