Children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy face unique challenges due to their increase susceptibility to respiratory infections.

Every year, we offer free flu shots at Apollo, to children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) as part of our commitment to safeguarding their health.
By providing these flu shots at no cost, we aim to reduce the risk of flu-related complications in these children, helping them maintain better health throughout the flu season.

We also organized a panel discussion addressing parents of children with DMD.
By bringing together specialists in Pediatric neurology, Pediatric pulmonology, Pediatric cardiology, Pediatric endocrinology and Pediatric neuromuscular physical therapy experts we aimed to address the diverse needs of children with DMD and provide parents with practical strategies for managing their child’s condition.
Each specialist provided an overview of their role in the care of children with DMD, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and continuous monitoring. Topics covered included managing muscle weakness, preventing respiratory complications, monitoring cardiac health, monitoring height, weight, bone health and hormonal changes etc. The event was highly interactive, with parents actively engaging in the discussion. They had the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and seek advice directly from the specialists. This interaction not only provided them with personalized guidance but also fostered a sense of community and shared understanding among the attendees.

The panel discussion was a resounding success, with positive feedback from both the specialists and the parents. The event not only provided valuable information but also empowered parents with the knowledge and confidence to advocate for their child's needs.
