Watch the journey of my 2013 Gibson R8 Les Paul being converted/refinished to a period-correct 1958 Les Paul Standard by master refinisher and restoration expert, Joe Riggio. We treated this as a "faux-conversion" project, where one might take an early to mid 50's Les Paul and convert it to a late 50's Les Paul. However, in this case, we're attempting to do the same with modern bones and a combination of vintage and replica parts and hardware - hopefully, re-creating the magic of the Golden Era of the Les Paul.
