Why are we always ruled something in our lives? We don't intentionally know it, but there is always something that controls our actions and our lives. Whether it's porn, or alcohol, or drugs, there is always something ruling over us? Why is that?
Why does God have rules? He has them for our protection, because He wants to keep us from experiencing something that harms us in the long run.
This song, "The Bird and the Snake," is a parable explaining what happens when we walk away from God, and give our lives over to sin. Because when we abandon God, we're not getting freedom, but rather, we're just trading one king for another. And we become a slave to sin, and get addicted to what we struggle with today.
