Million Dollar Highway Drive & Colorado Trail Hike 09-26-21

After camping nearby, I hiked along the Colorado Trail to both Little Molas Lake and Molas Lake. I could easily rank this hike as the most scenic I've been on, even though it was short. It was a gradual 2 miles down then 2 miles back up. Then I drove the Million Dollar Highway through it's most scenic stretch from Silverton, CO to Ouray, Co. The highway lived up to it's maximum potential with rocky peaks sloping down into thick forested valleys ablaze with all the colors of autumn. The experience was a prolonged visual feast. My only regret is that I didn't get to see more mining structures due to oversleeping and also the crowds were thick near mine structures. That can be saved for future visits. After 22 years of living in Colorado, this drive knocked my socks off when I thought I had seen it all here.
