I forgot I needed a route like this, and this is probably the easiest example. This route features what I like to call a "Floating Activation Point." The idea behind a FAP is activating fever mode in empty space. Normally you would never want to do this, as this is clearly an inefficient use of fever mode on its own. However, in the context of the song, this can sometimes be beneficial. In this route, it lets you optimize the second activation by sacrificing some points in the first, resulting in an overall gain.

My theory score for this chart is actually 95262, but the timing for this is either actually impossible or so strict that it simply hasn't been accomplished yet.
