Ghost of Yōtei is a 2025 action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is a standalone sequel to the 2020 game Ghost of Tsushima.[1] Set in 1603 in Ezo, Japan, the story follows Atsu, an onryō seeking vengeance against the "Yotei Six" for slaughtering her family sixteen years prior.

Ghost of Yōtei was released for the PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025 to generally favorable reviews.

Gameplay
Ghost of Yōtei follows a third-person perspective and combines sword fighting, stealth, and exploration. Players can wield a diverse arsenal of weapons, such as a traditional katana (including dual wielding), tanegashima, yari, yumi, ōdachi, kusarigama, and the traditional kaginawa (grappling hook), enabling varied tactical approaches. New features include dynamic weather effects such as snow, rain, and auroras inspired by the real environment around Mount Yōtei.[2]

Additionally, a flexible, non-linear quest structure allows players to choose the order in which they confront the Yōtei Six, fostering emergent narrative paths and player-driven momentum. Players will also be able to take on side missions, similar to the first game, with new content such as hunting outlaws for bounty rewards. Several side activities are available to players; bathing in an onsen and cutting bamboo strikes both return from Tsushima, alongside new activities including sumi-e painting, setting up a campsite where Atsu can cook and play her shamisen.[2] In addition to the Kurosawa Mode returning from Tsushima, Yōtei introduces two additional modes based on the film styles of Takashi Miike and Shinichirō Watanabe.[3]

Multiplayer
A sequel to Tsushima's co-op multiplayer Legends mode was announced, titled Ghost of Yōtei: Legends. Like its previous entry, it will feature two-player story missions and four-player survival matches where players will fight against gigantic, monstrous versions of the Yōtei Six and enemies inspired by Japanese mythology. Yōtei: Legends is set to release in 2026 as a free update for all base game owners.[4]
