Dragging Kerosnized Rope Controls Rice Hispa:

Hi Friends,
If you are a farmer or have interest in agriculture or involved in paddy cultivation, you have seen white patches on paddy leaves during kharif paddy cultivation. An insect called rice hispa (Dicladispa armigera) scrap and eat chlorophyll from paddy leaves. As a result, the leaves become white in colour due absence of chlorophyll. If uncontrolled, the yield may be decreased devastatingly.
We can easily control this insect by pulling a rope made of straw rinsed in Kerosinized water over paddy field. Just see how the farmers were pulling the chain.
This symptom is seen at 25-45 days after transplanting. At that stage that operation may be done. Once, panicle initiates, please don't follow this method or the paddy crop may get damaged. This may also control other pests like rice stem borer to some extent.
