Formerly a Manually Controlled Barriers crossing with Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD), the first of its kind in the UK, but all the obstacle detection equipment has since been decommissioned and removed.

A fairly busy level crossing located in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Filey, a few miles south of Scarborough. This was the first level crossing in the UK to be fitted with a working obstacle detection system in 2010, a system which scans the level crossing and proves it clear of obstruction before releasing the signals that read over it, and this has been rolled out at quite a lot of level crossings up and down the country since. However, at this location the obstacle detection equipment and system was at some point de-commissioned, and now nothing else remains other than the various other cameras the obstacle detection system used (the LIDARs and radars have been de-commissioned and removed in the last few years). In this video, a pair of Northern services are seen on runs between Scarborough and Sheffield, making use of the town's twin-platform, canopy-covered, station.

The blue-bordered unlit signal head seen just up the line in the direction of Scarborough is an emergency indicator which only illuminates if a signal is passed at danger, telling drivers of the need to stop immediately to avoid a potential conflicting movement. These were used at high-risk locations until Train Protection and Warning System (TWPS) was fitted across the network.
