Story of the Song: 'Agomoni' regefers to traditional devotional Bengali songs, particularly performed before, or during Durga Puja festival. These songs are about Ma Durga's homecoming. Mythology says, Devi Durga is daughter of King Himalaya and Menka. In many Agomoni songs, goddess Durga is pretended more like a married mortal lady, irrespective her devine power.
In this song mother Menka is asking Uma's father King Himalaya, that this time when her daughter would visit their home, she would not let her go back to her husband any more. If Lord Shiva visits to receive Uma, then queen Menka and Uma both will protest for going back to Shiva's home. As Shiva is yogi, homeless, stays on hill, crematorium, here and there, so it is very painful for her to see such poor condition of her daughter.
