Saat Bhai Champa is a popular fairy tale that we all grew up hearing.
This bird has many similarities with this tale.
It is locally known as Saat Bhai Chatare.
This bird roams in flocks, just like the seven brothers of the tale, therefore the naming.

They are most common in rural Bangladesh.
Commonly known as Jungle Babbler is also locally known as Saatvaila, Bon Chatare.
They can grow up to 10 inches.
The grey-brown Jungle Bubbler easily blends with the grey branches of trees.
The head, back of the neck, and throat are grey-brown.
There are pale brown spots on the chest and throat.
They have yellowish-white and grey-yellow legs.
There are thin black stripes on the long, dark grey-brown tail.
Male and female birds are almost identical.
Besides Bangladesh, they are found in many countries in South Asia.

Jungle Babbler roams in forests and gardens, including deciduous forests.
They feed on insects, seeds, etc.
It's amazing to see these fickle birds hop together in search of food.
February-October is their breeding season.
They lay navy blue eggs in a bowl-shaped nest on bushes or trees.
The eggs hatch in about 2 weeks.

All birds, including Jungle Babbler, play an important role in our ecosystem.
Scavenging birds help in waste management and insectivorous birds help in pest control.
Birds also directly contribute to plant pollination.
But due to the destruction of flora, many beneficial bird species are currently endangered.
Their breeding process is being disrupted.
Therefore, our awareness is vital for conserving birds and their habitat.
