i think that in the past i used to think of new years resolutions to be kind of dumb, under the argument that theres nothing so special about the start of the year and if you want to make change, you can do it whenever really :caol:

nowadays, i have a different perspective on them though
at least for me (i have no idea whether or not im just like going insane or if others feel this way too but) it feels like its comically easy to just lose track of the time
like it almost feels as if the time between covid to 6 months ago was just a giant dissociative episode and that from the perspective of the present, it just passed in the blink of an eye pretty much ;-;
sometimes it actually makes me worry a little bit, since i realize that one day ill just wake up in an old body and ill probably similarly wonder how it happened so quickly

and so if thats how life is and will continue to be as i get older, little milestone breaks along the way are almost needed so that your mind doesnt just get swept away in the continuity of time
i think that nowadays thats exactly what i see the year change and resolutions as ...

i dont think i can stop myself from waking up in 60 years and wondering where all the time went
but im weirdly optimistic that if i continue to set yearly goals for my future self to work towards and reflect on, then when i do wake up in that body, i wont have as many regrets

and so all that to say that ive started taking resolutions more seriously lately, and if you took the care to read this far, i hope that you may as well ..!!!



on the actual song, lately I've felt a lot of common feelings between having now moved to a new area and just yesterday the turn of the new year making me think about all those things in the first few like paragraphs hahaha
thus I felt it would only be fitting to try and put those feelings into a song !!
