Granite, the primary material used for constructing its houses, was sourced directly from the local rocks, saving on materials and blending harmoniously with the surroundings.

Located along the winding mountain road that heads northwest from Bignasco, Sabbione is part of a region dotted with equally picturesque villages. Frozen in time since the 16th century, the town is now a protected area, drawing visitors with its rustic beauty and historic atmosphere.

Sabbione also features a small oratory, reflecting Ticino’s strong Catholic heritage. As the only Swiss canton where Italian is the sole official language (though it is also spoken in parts of Grisons), Ticino’s culture feels distinct and steeped in tradition.
