Oil Painting Process | Self Portrait Demo + Chat

Описание к видео Oil Painting Process | Self Portrait Demo + Chat

Today I’ll be doing a small self portrait and talking you through the whole process! By request, I’ll be sharing my reference & covering a bunch of info info about the steps I go through to make my alla prima (single-sitting) portrait studies: my palette, mixing paint and medium, keeping light looking luminous, and other decision-making along the way.

**Note: All are welcome, though this video is intended for an audience who is already familiar with basic art concepts like value, highlight and shadow, warm vs cool color, etc. (not first-day beginners). Maybe you’ve been using another medium and want to try oils, or struggled with oil painting in the past- this one is for you. :)

My Gear + Materials:
Surface: Tinted-gessoed 5x7 inch Ampersand Value Series hardboard panel

Oil paint brands: Sennelier, Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, Grumbacher, Williamsburg, Rembrandt, and Gamblin
Medium: Liquin Original

QotV:
“You might say art doesn’t have ‘rules’ but it does have expected outcomes.”
