Japan, Tojinbo Cliffs. Dramatic Stone Cliffs along the Sea of Japan.
The Tojinbo Cliffs stretch for a kilometer along the northern coast of Fukui, featuring towering formations of natural stone columns formed 12 to 13 million years ago by volcanic activity - a phenomenon rare enough to be found in only two other places globally. Over centuries, the relentless waves of the Sea of Japan have sculpted these stones, creating a dramatic landscape of deep valleys, water pools, and cliffs reaching up to 30 meters high.
Visitors can explore and climb these rugged cliffs and enjoy half-hour sightseeing boat rides in the morning and early afternoon, offering close-up views of uniquely shaped rock formations like Lion Rock and Candle Rock.
Additionally, Tojinbo Tower provides an elevated perspective, offering bird’s-eye views of the Tojinbo Cliffs, Oshima Island to the northwest, and Mt. Hakusan to the east.
