📖 History of the Bill Drill
The Bill Drill was created by Bill Wilson, founder of Wilson Combat and one of the early pioneers of IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation).

It was designed as a simple but brutally effective drill to test a shooter’s draw speed, recoil control, grip, sight tracking, and trigger control.

The drill has since become a staple in IDPA, USPSA, and modern defensive training.

🎯 The Drill Setup

Target: IPSC/USPSA silhouette (all A-zone hits, 6" × 11").

Distance: Standard is 7 yards.

Course of Fire: From the holster → draw and fire 6 shots into the A-zone.

Scoring: All hits must be A-zone. Any C/D/misses = drill failure (focus is precision under speed, not just speed).

⏱️ Time Standards

-Grand Master (GM): ~2.0 sec or less (all A’s).
-Master: ~2.5–3.0 sec.
-Sharpshooter / Intermediate: ~3.5–4.5 sec.
-Beginner: ~5.0–6.0+ sec (start with control, then add speed).

👉 Key takeaway: The Bill Drill isn’t about “just blazing” 6 shots — it’s about seeing your sights, managing recoil, and keeping them in the A-zone at speed. Need to tighten up my fundamentals and get the draw and 6 shots alpha zone, in under 2 seconds. Training never stops.
