Hakeem Matthias regularly plays the steelpan at my church. Sitting with him by the piano last Sunday I invited him to play something for me to hear. He answered with this. I was immediately struck by his cultured touch and musicality. And invited him to musically muse in my foyer one evening. The rest is history, and there’s more history to come!
Having been nurtured in the Hellsgate Steel Orchestra, and being taught and mentored by giants such as Lacu Samuel, Veron Henry and Khan Cordis, the result is no surpriseI This young man is dedicated to his craft. He writes, and arranges music, and I am looking for him to continue making strides in the music world. Listen to and appreciate his music. And there’ll be more to come!
