This episode documents how Andrew , his son Thomas and a volunteer carer (Karolin) journey into London to explore the sites. They travel on the Javelin (fast train) from Canterbury up to Stratford. Andrew uses a boarding ramp to get his electric wheelchair onto the train. At Stratford station he is met by platform staff with a boarding ramp who assist him getting off.

They walk through the Westfield shopping centre and take the Jubilee line (Underground / tube) to London Bridge where they walked to Tower Bridge. Entering the museum they didn't have to queue (wheelchairs are given priority) and the accessibility was excellent. A large lift took them up to the top floor of the bridge museum and they could walk / roll across the top of the bridge looking down on the streets / river thames below through a glass panel.

They walked alongside the River Thames and had a picnic lunch opposite the Tower of London , looking at HMS Belfast and the Walkie Talkie building. After lunch they went to the top of the Walkie Talkie museum and admired the view across London from The Sky Garden. Thomas has been studying The Great Fire of London and from The Sky Garden you can see where the fire started , there is a golden monument which you can see from The Sky Garden (Tom had read about this at school).

After The Sky Garden they explore the streets of London , walking past St Pauls Cathedral heading to the Museum of London where Tom gets to see pictures of The Great Fire of London and learn about London's history. From here they get a taxi back to St Pancras and get the fast train (Javelin) home.

This wheelchair accessible day out was informative and fun. During such adventures Andrew (who needs hoisting out of his chair) travels with a portable commode / shower chair). This is strapped to the back of his chair , should he need the toilet it can be built and he can transfer onto it with the help of a sturdy carer and a sliding board. Thankfully the commode wasn't required on this trip. Andrew who has Muscular Dystrophy uses a mid-wheeldrive Electric All Terrain Electric Wheelchair from Magic Mobility is non ambulant and requires a hoist to be lifted from his electric wheelchair.
