Santiago to Mendoza, crossing the Andes by bus

Описание к видео Santiago to Mendoza, crossing the Andes by bus

Traversing the Andes from Santiago in Chile to Mendoza in Argentina. The 363-kilometre route, passing through some of the most remote areas in South America, demands 100% concentration on behalf of the driver and 100% awe on behalf of the passenger!

The most scenic part of the road is a short section known as Los Caracoles (the snails), on the Chilean side. Providing some 28 hairpin turns, you can only gaze in disbelief or awe as you go through a series of hard switchbacks on an extremely steep incline.

Imposing views of the Andes, dizzying heights and reaching a peak elevation of 4000 metres, this is not for the faint-hearted. The reward? Magnificent views of the switchbacks below and South America’s highest peak, Aconcagua, which straddles both countries. Life's too short to miss this one!
