Shreegauri Sawant On Majha Katta : तृतीयपंथीयांच्या हक्कासाठीचा कोर्टातला लढा हा तुलनेने सोपा आहे, पण समाजासोबत लढणे हे अवघड आहे. कायद्याच्या आधारे का असेना आता तृतीयपंथीयांना त्यांचे अधिकार मिळत आहेत असं समाजसेविका श्रीगौरी सावंत म्हणाल्या. एक दिवस असा येईल की समाज आम्हाला माणूस म्हणून स्वीकारले असा आशावाद त्यांनी व्यक्त केला. माझ्या लेकरांची आई म्हणून माझी ओळख कायम राहावी अशी इच्छा असल्याचं श्रीगौरी सावंत म्हणाल्या. एबीपी माझाच्या माझा कट्टा या कार्यक्रमात त्यांनी तृतीयपंथीयांच्या आयुष्यात असलेली आव्हानं आणि समाज त्यांच्याकडे कोणत्या नजरेने पाहतो यावर संवाद साधला.


मला बाई व्हायचं होतं मग त्याबद्दतीने वागायला लागले. शरीरावरून नव्हे तर मनातून हे झालं पाहिजे हे मला समजलं असं श्रीगौरी सावंत यांनी सांगितलं. त्या म्हणाल्या की, "हमसफर या एलजीबीटीक्यू संस्थेसाठी मी काम करायला सुरू केलं. वेश्या व्यवसाय ज्या ठिकाणी सुरू असायचा त्या ठिकाणी कंडोम वाटायचे आणि त्या ठिकाणी आरोग्यविषयक शिबीरं घेण्याचं काम करू लागले. त्यावेळी या कामाचे मला महिन्याला दीड हजार रुपये मिळायचे. उदरनिर्वाहाचं साधन मिळाल्यानंतर भीक का मागायचं."
