Google Patents Advanced Search is easy. This video shows a simple advanced search in four easy steps. How do you take advantage of the power of Google Patents? Start powerful search in just a four steps. Google Patents advanced search is going to both simplify and improve your patent searching with a lot less effort than you think.



Step one is to brainstorm. Brainstorm a dozen words that represent the features of your invention that make it stand out.


Step two is to select four features that best represent why you think your invention is new. After you do that you want to go to the website https://patents.google.com/advanced.


Step three is to click on the box that says “+ Synonym” and type your first term. Every time you press enter it will take you to a new box below.


Step four is to spend at least 10 minutes reviewing the results and writing down the document information for the best three results that you find. You want to review fairly deeply into the results. Each search result is a result you will likely not have seen before. Novice searchers see the same five irrelevant results a dozen times.
