Do you have burning pain or numbness or tingling into the area of the pinky finger, ring finger? Do neck movements bother you? Does raising arms up helps to relieve pain when sitting or possibly laying down. If this is you then you might be experiencing ulnar nerve entrapment, and thus, ulnar nerve flossing might be a helpful exercise. There can be many entrapment sites of the ulnar nerve where it might get stuck.. This is why we have to floss the whole ulnar nerve pathway like the forearm, elbow, armpit, and neck muscles. With multiple possible sites of ulnar nerve entrapment that can happen at the same time, which is often referred to as "double crush syndrome", it is often the end of the nerve that is most stretched and affected and will produce symptoms in the hand.
Watch this video for an informal demonstration on how to perform this exercise to floss the ulnar nerve. We recommend 20-30 reps 3-5 sets daily, if this exercise does aggravate this condition I would decrease the amount of reps and sets to where you are able to reduce symptoms within 10-15 minutes after completion of the ulnar nerve flossing exercise. There are modifications to lesser stress the nerve for example wrist movements, or wrist and elbow flex and extend movements to floss nerve with no head movements.
