Innovating Compression Textiles for Enhancing Wearing Comfort and Health Care

對於長時間站立或久坐的人，穿著壓力襪有助緩解腿部不適和腫脹，其所提供的有效壓力能促進下肢血液循環，預防靜脈曲張、血栓形成或其他血循環問題。
可是，傳統壓力襪因穿著不舒適或使用不當而限制了其實際功效和應用。 #理大 應用科學及紡織學院劉蓉博士以新方案去解決壓力紡織品的合身及壓力劑量精准控制問題。透過運用多元學科技術及人體功學設計，劉博士研發出高性能的壓力襪，並把壓力紡織品應用擴展到不同的穿戴領域。自2013年，劉博士的研究已成功幫助超過50多萬名下肢患有不同程度慢性靜脈疾病的人。

Compression stockings contribute to the relief of leg fatigue or swelling for people who stand or sit for prolonged periods of time at work. The compression exerted by the socks improves blood flow, helping to prevent varicose veins, venous thrombosis and other circulation problems.
However, traditional compression stockings have limitations that can include discomfort and lack of efficacy, thus hindering their use. #PolyU Dr Liu Rong of the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles has proposed new approaches to help solve size fitting and pressure-dose control problems for compression textiles. By applying multidisciplinary technologies and ergonomic design, she has developed high-performance compression stockings and extended the applications to multiple wearable areas. Since 2013, Dr Liu’s research has helped more than 500,000 people with different degrees of chronic venous diseases of the lower extremities.
