Описание к видео How to transform social protection systems towards food security and nutrition?

Global statistics indicate that we are going backwards in the fight against hunger worldwide: almost 150 million people suffered from this situation between 2019 and 2022, accentuated by the COVID-19 pandemic and, more recently, by the effects of the Russia-Ukraine War. In Latin America and the Caribbean, we have returned to the levels of fifteen years ago and are losing the battle against all forms of malnutrition, which distances us from meeting the SDG commitments for 2030.

Against this backdrop, and as countries seek to rebuild their economies, social protection programs such as cash and in-kind transfers, food distribution schemes and school feeding have been a crucial tool to mitigate the effects of the crisis and prevent a steeper rise in poverty and hunger.

To help governments improve food and nutrition security outcomes in social programs, FAO, in collaboration with its partners (GIZ, ILO, WB, Save the Children, WFP, IPC-IG), have developed an Inter-Agency Social Protection Assessment Tool for Food Security and Nutrition: ISPA FSN tool, whose main objective is to support national and regional governments in the analysis of how social protection programs can be used to improve their results in terms of food security and nutrition.

This webinar will present an overview of the concepts associated with improving the effects of social protection programs on food security and nutrition, by presenting the ISPA-FSN tool. Therefore, experts from governments and organizations will share their experience in evaluation, diagnosis and design of social protection programs aimed to achieving more inclusive food systems in order to achieve the goal of Zero Hunger by 2030.

We will have the participation of outstanding experts in the field and high-level delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean from ministries of social development, human development and economic and social inclusion.

The event will be held in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English and can be followed exclusively online.
