How to set up a Japanese Futon! And how to care for your Japanese futon!

Tatami mat for under mattress - https://amzn.to/3oROzf9
( You don't need a tatami mat for under your mattress, it just softens the ground slightly and the scent is meant to act as a slight aroma therapy while you sleep. So you could get part of the benefit of a tatami by using a cushion or foam under your futon mattress. Be warned, many people think the tatami smell like hay, because it is woven grass... so you may not like the smell. But if you really want to set up a Japanese futon mattress the correct way some tatami is the way to go!)
