Description

Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites called Sarcoptes scabiei that burrow into the skin.

Causes:
Close skin-to-skin contact with an infected person.
Sharing clothing, bedding, or towels.
Symptoms:
Intense itching, especially at night.
Red rashes or blisters.
Thin, irregular burrow tracks on the skin (often between fingers, wrists, or other folds).
Treatments:
Prescription creams/lotions (like permethrin or ivermectin).
Oral medications for severe cases.
Treating close contacts and washing bedding in hot water.
Prevention:
Avoid close contact with infected individuals.
Do not share personal items like clothing or towels.
Wash clothing and bedding regularly.\
