BMF Entertainment: From the Streets to the Studio

After dominating the drug trade, the Flenory brothers attempted to transition from the streets, to the studio, by launching a record label.

The Black Mafia Family aka BMF, was a drug trafficking organization, led by Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and his brother, Terry "Southwest Tee" Flenory.

It was founded in 1985, in Southwest Detroit, where the brothers graduated from small-scale crack-cocaine peddling, to establishing a large organization, overseeing multi-kilogram cocaine distribution sales in numerous U.S. states.

At its height, BMF had over 500 members across the United States, and made over $270 million between 1989 and 2005.

BMF's drug empire has been well documented, so this video will focus on Meech and Tee's venture into the music industry.

We'll explore Stomping Ground Records, and discuss BMF's impact on Atlanta's emergence as the nation's hip-hop capital. We'll examine BMF Entertainment and breakdown Meech's marketing moves, from the billboards to the Smack and Raw Report DVDs.

Bleu Davinci and Young Jeezy will be discussed along with BMF's most notorious beefs, from Diddy's former bodyguard Wolf Jones, to Gucci Mane.
