RARE STREAMLINER, PACIFIC NATIONAL GRAIN TRAIN & BALLAST TRAIN - A Day in South Australia's North

Описание к видео RARE STREAMLINER, PACIFIC NATIONAL GRAIN TRAIN & BALLAST TRAIN - A Day in South Australia's North

A rare day of rail movements in South Australia's Mid North: a classic Streamliner EMD, loaded Ballast Train, and a highly unusual Pacific National Interstate Grain Train make their way through. Meanwhile, a CF unit powers an SCT Freight, and Aurizon's Mineral Sands Train adds to the bustling rail traffic. An epic day out making this railfan's dream come true!

At this stage, Pacific National is back hauling Grain interstate weekly out of South Australia to New South Wales until September. Twin 82s have been used on all four services so far, and the train we captured was the third run with a mixture of liveries across two units.

Starting early in the morning, not long after Sunrise, a rare ARTC Ballast Train hauled by Pacific National is captured at Tent Hill with locomotives NR1/NR43. This train will drop ballast between Pimba and Burando before returning to Whyalla for another load of ballast.

1960s EMD Streamliner GM43 prepares and departs Spencer Junction with a transfer train, including a Crew Van and Inline Refueller Wagon bound for Whyalla as 4611s. The 62 Year Old unit passes an old L-class Steam Engine Tender and Pacific National's NR34 in a special Reconciliation livery.

On lease to SCT Logistics from Railfirst, CF4410 leads Intermodal 1PM9 away from Port Augusta with CSR019. The cross-country Intermodal is double-stacked and has Greater Freighter Vans in the consist. It's unclear how long SCT will require the use of CFs on its trains, with first-generation CSRs currently undergoing overhauls.

Aurizon's Mineral Sands Train 1501s is captured climbing the grades towards Huddleston with GWU013 on the lead and 6025 bound for Ivanhoe in New South Wales.

RARE Pacific National Grain Train 4503s is captured twice on its way out of South Australia after loading at Gladstone. These services will operate weekly, collecting grain from South Australia and taking it across the border to New South Wales.
