This documentary uncovers the largest heroin seizure in Greater Manchester Police history – a £63 million smuggling plot hidden inside 42 tables imported from Turkey.

At the heart of the operation was Fikiri Yarasir, a 53-year-old Albanian crime boss nicknamed “Mario” for his video-game lookalike. Yarasir was the kingpin, orchestrating an elaborate conspiracy to import 210 kg of high-purity heroin into the UK. Using a Turkish-registered lorry, furniture shipments, and a network of couriers, the gang attempted to flood the streets with drugs while laundering millions overseas.

Undercover officers tracked suspicious cash exchanges between Steven Hindley and David Mulligan, uncovering the Cobden Street industrial unit in Salford where the heroin was hidden.

Police raided the unit and dismantled tables to reveal 500g bags of heroin concealed inside each piece of furniture.

A separate search of a Rhyl lockup uncovered a “bash house,” complete with mixing agents and equipment to dilute and distribute the drugs for maximum profit.

Evidence showed Kathryn Fearon and Paul Livesey acted as money mules, flying cash to Turkey to finance the operation.
