Last month, fishery officers completed their work in Operation North Pacific Guard, the first Canadian led international law enforcement operation targeting illegal fishing on the high seas.

Our dedicated officers patrolled a total of 12,000 nautical miles as part of this year’s operation, and reported several concerning incidents, including illegally harvested shark fins and marine pollution.

Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing undermines the livelihood of law abiding fish harvesters, and poses a serious threat to our precious marine ecosystems.
