Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Ozamiz Airport Modernization Project (Speech)

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the time capsule laying for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ozamiz Airport Modernization Project at Barangay Labo, Ozamiz City in Misamis Occidental.

The PhP 1.192 billion project shall entail the construction of the airport site development including the new apron and fence, construction of new passenger terminal building, improvement of the runway strip, and the expansion and asphalt overlay of the runway, funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) and President Duterte’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ program.

Upon completion of the Ozamiz City Airport Modernization Project, it shall transform the airport into a principal and international airport that is projected to make the 2nd District of Misamis Occidental province into an economic hub of Northwestern Mindanao and be among the top five (5) tourist destinations in the whole of Mindanao Island.

In his message after the groundbreaking ceremony, President Duterte reminded his fellow government workers that their primary mandate is to serve the Filipino people and made a stern warning that he would not tolerate any form of corruption in government.

He also lauded the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the effective implementation of the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program and said that his administration shall continue to unveil and launch more completed infrastructure projects in the coming months.

The President was accompanied in the event by Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and the local government officials of Misamis Occidental.
