Racing Hravn J109 july 12 2023 Bellingham Bay sailboat racing port starboard foul exonerate 360 turn

Another great night of sailboat racing on Bellingham Bay, on J109 Hravn. The wind was 18-20 kts and we changed from #2 jib to #3 for better sail plan, but late to the start. We caught all but one boat upwind -- #3 is better in high winds! After crossing Vitesse on starboard and they had to duck behind our stern--Starboard boat has right of way--but with the next crossing we were port and Vitesse was starboard. We felt it a clean, albeit close, crossing but the skipper of the vessel on starboard said he had to alter course, which is a foul. Our move to exonerate the foul is to do a 360 degree turn as a penalty, which we did pretty smoothly about half-way through this video. There is no protest committee on Thursday CYC Bellingham races but there is the honor of sailors.

All in all, great day of sailing and racing in Bellingham Bay, fulfilling the boat's motto "A Good Time Every Time."
