I went to Shindisi, Georgia to harvest grapes and make natural wine with my friend - a professional sommelier working at one of the best natural wine bars in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Georgia is considered the oldest wine region in the world, with over 8,000 years of continuous winemaking. This isn’t marketing. Archaeological evidence backs it up. Wine was being made here long before France, Italy, or anywhere else we associate with “fine wine.”
In this video, we harvest grapes by hand, talk about what natural wine actually means, and start the process of making our own wine the traditional Georgian way.

Making your own wine in the country where wine began is surreal. It’s one thing to drink natural wine. It’s another thing entirely to harvest grapes, crush them, and feel how alive the process is.
Georgia has over 500 native grape varieties, many of which don’t exist anywhere else. The culture around wine here isn’t trendy - it’s inherited.
This was honestly a dream experience. Being in the countryside outside Tbilisi, working with someone who deeply understands wine as a sommelier, and seeing how biodynamic and low-intervention practices are just normal here… it changes how you think about wine.
