Step into a world where jazz isn't just a musical genre, but a universal language. Join David Lown as he unravels the intricate connection between jazz and the human soul. David Lown, a University of North Texas graduate, is a renowned saxophonist with recording credits alongside jazz legends like Jimmy Cobb and Dave Liebman. Since 2008, he has directed the jazz program at Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas, with their ensembles being national finalist at the Essentially Ellington competition five times (2010, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021), where they have won numerous Outstanding Soloist and Outstanding Section awards. Lown was named Carroll Senior High School's Teacher of the Year for 2013-2014, and in 2017 was named a Quarterfinalist for the 2018 GRAMMY Music Educator Award. He is a past president of the Texas Jazz Educators Association and is now on the organization’s board of directors. Lown now serves as a clinician and guest artist for Jazz at Lincoln Center.
