27 club members in 15 Mazda MX-5s met at the Happy Valley Reservoir carpark for a 10am departure on the South Coast History run (see notes).
On what could only be described as a Goldie Locks day (not too hot, not too cold but just right), we headed south through Clarendon and Kangarilla to then drive amidst the beautiful vineyards of McLaren Vale.
Next was a fun climb up Willunga Hill before a quick sprint to our first stop, a plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Myponga Pop Festival (1971). We then had a short run into Myponga for a Comfort/Coffee break where we picked up one more MX-5s with 2 club members aboard.
It was then on to Yankalilla passing the historic Wattle Hills homestead. Continuing through Yankalilla we headed out on the Inman Valley Road before turning into Torrens Vale Road, Parawa Road and then Range Road to finally descend down into Victor Harbor.
After a drive along the esplanade to take in the sights we headed to the Hotel Elliot at Port Elliot for lunch, with one couple taking the opportunity to forgo lunch for a trip on the cockle train.
