Underprivileged millennials: Being young, poor in Jakarta

Mainstream media portrays millennials as upper-middle class, tech-savvy and white-collar employees. But a study shows that even in a big city like Jakarta nearly a quarter of the millennial-aged men and over a third of the women only have junior high school education or lower.

The Jakarta Post followed the lives of two low-income millennials in Jakarta, to show the day-to-day realities faced by the generation that is the most significant part of Indonesia's much-vaunted "demographic bonus." (JP/Karina M. Tehusijarana)
