This lip smacking Paneer Methi Malai cannot fail to please the diners. The appetizing bitterness of methi, the royal creaminess of malai and the succulence of paneer come together to make an awesome subzi that tops the chart of favourites in most Indian restaurants. A paste of onion, cashewnuts, curd and spices adds to the luscious mouth-feel of the Indian creamy Paneer Sabzi. With most ingredients found in our pantry, its aroma and flavor is like sabzi from a Royal Kitchen.

Don’t forget to garnish the dish with some grated Paneer and then serve it with roti, phulkas or naan.


Ingredients :

300 gms Paneer (cut in cubes)

For sauteing Fenugreek Leaves :
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
50 gms Fenugreek Leaves (Methi Leaves) roughly chopped

For the Masala Paste :
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Bay Leaf
3 Cloves (laung)
3 Green Cardamoms (hara elaichi)
1 stick Cinnamon (Dalchini)
10 to 12 Black Peppercorns
1 large (165 gms) Onion (finely chopped)
40 gms Cashewnuts
150 gms Yogurt/Curd

For the Gravy or Curry Sauce :

2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp Butter
½ tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
1 tsp heaped Ginger Garlic Paste
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder)
½ tsp Fennel Seeds Powder (saunf powder)
½ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Sugar
250 mls Water (or as per the consistency you require)
Few Coriander Leaves (finely chopped)
2 tbsp Fresh Cream
½ tsp Dry Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi) roasted & crushed
Garnish with grated Paneer


Note : tsp is teaspoon
tbsp is tablespoon
