Our Pearly Gates humbucker pickups transform any Les Paul style guitar into a Classic Rock outlaw. The Pearly Gates neck captures all the mojo of the original neck pickup from Billy Gibbons’ 1959 Les Paul. It is a P.A.F. with a unique tonal variation that provides more midrange than typical humbuckers from that time. Seymour discovered Billy’s bridge pickup had slightly more output than most P.A.F.s, which helped to give it the extra drive that makes this pickup so special. It really has a growl all its own and will help to bring any humbucker-equipped instrument to life.

Unlike traditional humbuckers, the Saturday Night Special humbuckers are voiced to be a little hotter and fatter in the bridge position, and a little clearer and less “wooly” in the neck. They feature Alnico 4 magnets, and are more aggressive than 50s-style models but without the compression of most high gain pickups. The cleans are warm and musical while the overdriven tones cut through without being harsh in the highs or cloudy in the lows. These bridge the output level gap between vintage 50s and modern humbuckers, making this pickup set perfect for replicating those legendary late-70s arena rock tones.

Seymour’s early 70s London P.A.F. rewind recipe that graced the guitars of some of the most important British artists of the time. The recipe for this pickup set begins with a rough-cast Alnico 5 magnet, plain enamel wire, and Seymour’s unique winding pattern. The bridge is a vintage-hot 8.78k DC resistance and the neck is similarly beefy at 8.20k. The rough-cast magnets add warmth and balance so everything sounds bigger. What is sonically unique about the Whole Lotta Humbucker pickups is the way that they push your amp and add a very slight natural compression and sustain to your sound.
