[DIY Vlog] Astro Modification (Reassembly) of Canon 700D/Rebel T5i, feat. Spectral Sensitivity Test

To enhance the sensitivity toward most of the deep sky objects, it is necessary to remove the IR cut filter in front of the camera sensor, especially camera for daily life. Welcome to my first uncut Vlog, where I document the astro-modification process of my beloved Canon 700D / Rebel T5i / Kiss X7i.

This DSLR holds sentimental value for me as it was my first purchase back in 2013 during a trip to Hong Kong. Having previously successfully modified a second-hand Canon 6D, I entered this project with some familiarity with Canon camera disassembly. At the 30:27 mark, an unexpected mishap occurred during the removal of the IR cut mirror. Despite my initial nervousness and the mirror shattering into pieces, I proceeded with the process. Thankfully, subsequent tests, including resolution and spectral sensitivity, revealed no significant issues. These tests are also indicating my modification was very successful.
