This year, an extraordinary 21 RCA faculty, students, and alumni will be taking part in the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition will spotlight Africa and the African Diaspora for the first time, exploring the theme 'The Laboratory of the Future’.

A British-born Nigerian, Flash graduated with an MA Architecture in 2020, and now works as an assistant design tutor at the RCA, alongside her role as an architect at AHMM Architects.

During her RCA degree, Flash won the Dean’s Prize for her project Ààfin Awon Eniyan (The People’s Palace), which was also nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal. Her historical essay Memories of Sixth Wife is also recognised worldwide. Her thesis, which focussed on Yoruba history through the lens of architecture, tradition, colour and emerging subjectivities, has been published in The Funambulist Magazine, AA Files 78 and Arts Thread Global Design Graduate Show.

The RCA involvement is a testament to the School of Architecture’s ongoing commitment to decolonisation, decarbonisation, and ecology, encouraging a plurality of understandings of architecture and engaging with practices across the global south. The RCA’s members' participation occurs during an exhibition where more than half of the participants in the Biennale Architettura 2023 are from Africa or the African diaspora.
