Watch again as Joe Biden gave a speech on artificial intelligence after meeting with executives from Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI.

The Biden administration is trying to find ways how to regulate the emergent field of AI, in order to boost its potential for economic growth and national security and protect against its potential dangers.

These seven AI companies have agreed to new safeguards that are designed to minimise abuse and bias as concern about the misuse of artificial intelligence grows.

The US President said these companies committed to follow "three fundamental principles, safety, security and trust."

Following these principles, Mr Biden said "companies have an obligation to make sure that our technology is safe before releasing it to the public".

Tech companies will also have to label content that has been altered or AI-generated, "rooting out bias and discrimination, strengthening privacy protections and shielding children from harm."
