1930s Doug Coulter's 16mm film drive to Callander, North Bay, & Sudbury

Title pretty much says it all. See what it was like to drive north thru Callander, North Bay, to Sudbury and the huge nickel mine's slag heaps. At 5:35 you'll see an old CNR passenger train go by, Steam Engine #5107, which today is on display in Kapuskasing.

Interestingly, the Sudbury nickel mine was owned by an American company and during the first couple of years of World War II while Canadian were fighting the Germans and dying in Europe, the Germans were using nickel from Sudbury in their 'War Machine' manufacturing plants to make weapons to kill the Canadians with.

Ain't that a bitch, eh.
