FAO and UNHCR: Building resilient livelihoods for refugee and host communities in East Africa

Описание к видео FAO and UNHCR: Building resilient livelihoods for refugee and host communities in East Africa

Displaced populations often lack access to land, inputs and services, relying on small-scale and subsistence farming opportunities. Over 95 percent of Persons of Concern are employed in the agricultural sector and require support in building their food security, livelihoods and resilience through well-defined and context-based agricultural interventions.
Given the critical need to develop refugee livelihoods and promote self-reliance and inclusion in local economies, a unique partnership between FAO and UNHCR is facilitating the agricultural inclusion of refugee and host community populations in local agricultural value chains.
In Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, FAO and UNHCR are building the capacity of refugees and host communities to engage in market‑oriented sustainable production and agribusiness, contributing to the building profitable and sustainable value chains.
