WHITE CITY SHUNT MOVES.

Shunt moves in and out of White city station to and from the old White city depot on the Central line.

This is very historic !, as you'll see the original Wood lane platforms and depot of 1908 construction. Wood lane Central London Railway station having opened in 1908 for the British Franco exhibition at White City had an odd balloon shaped loop that served originally three platforms in a triangle, and a direct severe curve platform that gave access to the car sheds that originally had a moveable wooden platform that could be swung clear for trains entering the depot.

This odd arranged ceased in 1947 when the station closed and was replaced by the nearby White city station. What makes this UNIQUE and HISTORIC footage is that is shows the original exhibition hall buildings that were built on stilts that were still standing when this film was made by Central line management in the late 1990's.

NOTHING IS LEFT of the original car sheds and depot and platforms at Wood Lane. It was all demolished as part of the hideous westfields shopping complex.

A new underground depot was built on the site of the old one and is literally Underground ! ! ! within the basement of westfields.
