Описание к видео Touring in Motion - Ride to Historic Campbellton via SR 166, SR 70, and Cochran Road in South Fulton

Take a virtual ride with me as I ride to the "ghost town" (or what I'd rather call historic) Campbellton. We'll take Campbellton Road (SR 166) to Fulton Industrial Boulevard / Cascade Palmetto Highway (SR 70) and Cochran Road. On Cochran Road, we will go over two creeks - Camp Creek and Deep Creek - which both bridges are slated to be replaced (with the latter being closed to vehicular traffic.)

Cochran Road is mostly unpaved (gravel road) south of Deep Creek and just north of the historic Campbellton square, as well as a brief section without pavement just south of the Fulton County Water Reclamation Plant and Camp Creek.

Campbellton resided in what was Campbell County, Georgia. It was the county seat until 1870, when it was moved to Fairburn. Campbellton died out as a result of this move (it was said to be due to the residents rejecting the railroad coming through the town but one can argue the terrain in this area did not make it conducive for a railroad at the time.) Campbell County merged into Fulton County in 1932 during the Great Depression. This area is now in Fulton County and in the cities of South Fulton and Chattahoochee Hills.
