This year, without spending too much money, we wanted to take our 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6R to the next level in appearance and off-road capabilities. We liked the 2022 Wilderness Edition and thought we could adapt some of the features with our own modifications. Let me show you how I made some dramatic changes with my own hands and limited tools in my own garage. A true do-it-yourself project.

I installed a large LP Aventure bumper guard to help keep the body safe while navigating around the Linville Gorge Wilderness. The hood is wrapped in a VViViD Matte Stealth Jet Black Vinyl Wrap to cut down glare and give an aggressive look. The blacked-out hood area follows the curved body lines of the bonnet with the use of a 3M Knifeless Cutting Tape technology. Genuine Subaru wheel arch moldings and aftermarket fender flares were added to protect the body and adapt a rugged style. A dark bronze metallic paint gives a modern look to the grille, bumper guard, and wheels. And Yokohama Geolandar All-Terrain tires provide more off-road capabilities while still keeping a smooth quiet ride on the highway. Overall we were tickled with the results that these modifications gave to our 5 year old vehicle - giving the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition a run for its money.
