Maldives celebrates Independence Day on the 26th of July. The main highlight of Independence Day is the parade by MNDF.

The Maldives gained total independence from the British on 26 July 1965.
An agreement was signed by the Maldives' Prime Minister and the British Ambassador which ended the British responsibility for the defence and external affairs of the Maldives.
