One day in Montenegro visiting Lake Skadar National Park, where I took a boat tour & visited the fishing village of Virpazar. Welcome to my road trip in Montenegro and the first of many days exploring the country. The vlogging starts at the small fishing village of Virpazar on the banks of Skadar Lake National Park - a beautiful place slightly off the beaten track.

I started with a quick walk through Virpazar and then took a private boat tour out onto the calm waters of the lake. It was a beautiful day with clear skies and plenty of sunshine - perfect conditions to be out amongst nature and sailing through the natural world.

Back on dry land I walked through Virpazar and up towards Besac Castle - a restored fortress overlooking rugged mountains, green wetland and the blue water of the lake. Skadar Lake is the largest lake in Montenegro and from the hilltop castle you can see for miles, perhaps almost into Albania where the lake is called Lake Shkodra.

My next stop took me through some of Montenegro's spectacular mountain roads where I got to see the wildlife up close and enjoy some breathtaking views.

By the time I got to the coastline the late afternoon sun was glowing beautifully across the islet of Sveti Stefan - a place that started out as a fishing village but evolved into an exclusive luxury hotel complex catering for the rich and famous.

It's a n awe-inspiring area and as the sun began to set I jumped back into the car and drove up to the small church of St Sava high up on a hilltop to watch the sunset. This is a little known spot that every tourist has seen the photograph of - the scene is used for many posters and postcards advertising tourism in Montenegro. A place totally worth a stop but you’ll need a car!
